Reminder: COVID-19 Prevention Tools

COVID-19 cases are on the rise. Unfortunately, the new Omicron variant is causing an increase in cases among children. While vaccination is the best tool to prevent severe disease, most of the children in your groups cannot be vaccinated. 
 
Here is a list of tools you can use to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in your program: 

• Be vigilant with the following exclusion criteria. Anyone with any symptom of COVID-19 should be excluded and should get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible, including staff.  
• Continue daily health checks. 
• Wear tight fitting masks. Follow the statewide requirement. 
• Maintain physical distancing.  
• Make sure you have good air flow. This Improving Indoor Air document talks about how to improve air flow in your program and has a link for assistance on improving the air quality.  
• Everyone should wash their hands frequently throughout the day.  
• Use the 3-step process for cleaning and disinfecting, especially high touch surfaces and toys that children put in their mouths.
