Medicaid and CHIP offer free or low-cost health insurance for kids and teens. Children can get regular check-ups, immunizations, doctor and dentist visits, hospital care, mental health services, prescriptions and more. While open enrollment for marketplace coverage ended on January 15, 2022, in most states, Medicaid and CHIP are available for children year-round. Families of four earning up to nearly $50,000 (or even higher in some states) may qualify. Families (including child care providers) can visit InsureKidsNow.gov or call 1-877-KIDS-NOW (543-7669) to learn more about affordable health coverage for children.
