CHILDCARE AWARE / KPL FUNDING

Currently, the State of Washington funding for FFN programs is $630,000 per biennium. To respond to community demand, CCA is ready to increase the number of FFN programs to be available statewide. An investment of $3.1 million for FY23 will: 

• Increase the number of state-funded facilitated play groups from 7 to 37 
• Increase the number of text messaging program locations from 9 to 12 counties 

• Provide program access to 1,400 more children and 900 more FFN caregivers and parents 
• Fund vital infrastructure for staff training, materials translations, evaluation, technology, and leveraging local funding 

Investments in Family, Friend & Neighbor caregiver supports help to strengthen the ways that communities are already caring for each other and foster cultural identity and empowerment for the next generation. We urge you to include this modest yet impactful investment of $3.1M in the final supplemental budget.
